Automatic Manufacturing Process
From Specified Alloy Wire to Finished Thread Inserts
Production begins after the material, thread specification, insert configuration, surface process and inspection requirements are approved.
Alloy Wire Sourcing and Selection
The specified stainless steel or special alloy wire is sourced and assessed for grade, wire profile, forming condition and application. Customer drawings or approved samples may define additional requirements.
Mandrel and Machine Setup

Automatic Helical Coiling
The wire is automatically fed and formed around the selected mandrel to produce the required helical geometry.
Cut-Off, Tang and Notch Forming
Length control, cut-off, driving tang formation and break-off notch formation are completed during the automatic cycle.
Surface Processing
Cleaning, pickling, passivation, coloring or another approved treatment is selected according to the order requirement.
Inspection and Release
Finished inserts are checked using dimensional gauges and functional installation tests according to the inspection plan.

Manufacturer FAQ
Production, Materials and Ordering Questions
Can Taiyi manufacture custom wire thread insert sizes and lengths?
Custom sizes and lengths can be reviewed by producing or selecting the corresponding mandrel and adjusting the machine setup. Final feasibility depends on material, wire section, insert design, quantity and sample approval.
How fast is one wire thread insert produced?
The typical forming cycle is approximately 2–5 seconds per insert. Actual cycle time depends on the diameter, insert length, wire section and configuration. It does not include setup, surface processing, inspection and packaging.
Which materials can you use to manufacture custom wire thread inserts?
Stainless steel 201, 301, 304 and 316 are among the materials that can be reviewed. For custom production, Taiyi also accepts enquiries specifying Inconel X-750 (UNS N07750), Nitronic 60, Nimonic 90, phosphor bronze and other alloys. Suitable wire sourcing, forming, samples, treatment and certificates are confirmed for each order.
Can Taiyi quote Inconel X-750 (UNS N07750) wire thread inserts?
Yes. Send the required alloy grade, wire thread size, pitch, insert length, free-running or locking design, quantity and drawing or material specification. Taiyi will review wire sourcing, forming requirements, sample approval and any required documentation before confirming quotation and delivery.
Are all special alloy grades stocked or prequalified for every thread size?
No. Standard and specialist alloys have different supply and processing requirements. Each custom material and part configuration is reviewed against available wire, tooling, sample approval and requested documentation.
How are finished wire thread inserts inspected?
Inspection methods can include caliper measurement, thread gauges, free-diameter gauges, video measurement, visual inspection and installation testing according to the approved inspection plan.
How quickly can samples and bulk orders be shipped?
Available stock-size samples can normally be dispatched within 3–5 days. Standard production orders normally require approximately 20–30 days after specifications and commercial details are confirmed. Custom tooling, special materials, plating or packaging may require longer.
Is Taiyi an official HELICOIL brand manufacturer?
No. Taiyi is an independent manufacturer of generic helical wire thread inserts and a supplier of matched thread repair products, STI taps and installation tools. HELICOIL is a trademark of its respective owner.
